When crystals reveal the weather
The Storm Glass Barometer came into general use during the early 1700s. Sailors attached this instrument to the mast of their ship and by interpretation of the constantly changing crystal formations within, relied upon it to forecast the weather for nearly 250 years.
Admiral Robert Fitzroy, Captain of the HMS Beagle and later Governor of New Zealand, while in command of Charles Darwin's expedition, conducted a detailed study of the instrument. He refined the formula and published observational guidelines.
This Fitzroy Storm Glass consists of a sealed glass bauble, filled with a mixture of water, ethanol, camphor, potassium nitrate, and ammonium chloride. Depending on the weather conditions you can observe different forms of crystals form and dissolve, helping you to predict the weather.

The Fitzroy Storm Glass is not a toy! Keep it out of reach of children and pets to prevent breakages and injuries.
Risk of breakage:
Avoid knocks or the Storm Glass tipping over, as the glass is fragile. Place it in a safe, stable location, away from edges and high-traffic areas.
Proper storage:
Avoid placing the product in extremely cold or hot environments (direct sunlight, near heat sources), as this could impair its function or damage the glass.
Health risks:
The liquid contained within contains chemical substances which may be harmful to health if handled incorrectly. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Do not inhale vapours.
In the event of skin contact, wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water.
In the event of eye contact, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention.
If swallowed, do not induce vomiting and contact a doctor immediately.
Proper handling:
Avoid any attempts to open the Storm Glass or to damage it deliberately. Sharp edges and splinters may cause injury. The escaping liquid may cause chemical reactions or release hazardous vapours.
Disposal:
If the product is damaged, do not pour the liquid down the drain; dispose of it as chemical waste in accordance with local regulations.
