Polarising Film: Discover, Explore, Experiment
With this filter film, you can both polarise light – that is, split it into specific directions of vibration – and demonstrate the polarised nature of certain light phenomena (sky light, reflections).
Comes complete with explanations of the phenomenon of polarisation, instructions for interesting experiments using the simplest of materials, and two slide frames to cut out. Also suitable for making your own inexpensive photographic polarising filters.

Instructions:
Cut out the front and back sections of the slide frames and cut suitable pieces from the film (approx. 3 x 4 cm). Peel off the protective film from both sides of the filter film. Secure one piece of film behind the front section using a small piece of adhesive tape. Stick the frame halves together with glue. Done!
Important: Always hold the film by the edges only; fingerprints can affect performance.
Things you’ll need for assembly, or which might be useful:
- a sturdy, flat work surface; a cutting mat is useful
- a pair of scissors, a craft knife or a scalpel
- a good all-purpose glue
- some adhesive tape
Adult supervision:
Children under the age of 14 should use the film under adult supervision to avoid risks arising from improper handling.
Danger from sunlight:
Never look directly into the Sun, as this can cause serious eye damage.
Risk of injury:
Take particular care when handling pointed and sharp objects! Use sharp tools with care and, where necessary, take appropriate safety measures to prevent injury.
Fire hazard:
Keep away from open flames and sources of heat. The product contains highly flammable materials.
Use of adhesives:
When using adhesives, follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions. Work in well-ventilated areas and avoid contact with skin or eyes.
