A practical guide from Baader Planetarium on how to make your own solar filter for telescopes, binoculars and cameras.

Adult supervision:
Children under the age of 14 should only use the BAADER AstroSolar® Solar Filter Film under adult supervision to avoid risks arising from improper handling.

Safe use:
Check the BAADER AstroSolar® Solar Filter Film for damage such as scuffs, scratches or other safety-related issues before each use. Do not continue to use damaged film.
Only use the film as a solar filter in front of the entrance aperture of the optical equipment; never attach it to the eyepiece, i.e. never to the exit aperture facing the eye. Fit a solar filter to both lenses on binoculars and, where applicable, to the viewfinder on cameras and telescopes.

Intended use:
The BAADER AstroSolar® solar filter film must not be used for observation with the naked eye or for making solar viewing glasses.
The film should be used in accordance with the enclosed safety instructions. Unauthorised modifications may compromise the film’s functionality and safety.
