Spinning tops without touching them – dare we say it?
The name says it all: thanks to its aerodynamically shaped wings, the wind-powered spinning top can be propelled to ever-higher speeds by blowing on it vertically, just like a high-speed turbine, until all that remains is a golden swirl. And with a bit of practice, you can even get it spinning this way without using your hands at all! Instead of the usual pointed base, the wind-powered spinning top has a steel ball that can spin almost effortlessly on any solid surface. It’s particularly easy to get it going when it’s sitting on the upturned base of its storage box: a small magnet is hidden there, ensuring it stays in place even at breakneck speeds.
