Understand how the Sun moves across the sky!
This simple and easy to build model shows the movement of the Sun in the sky for every location on the northern hemisphere and for every day of the year. Just tilt the horizontal plane to the desired latitude, move the Sun (brass clip) to the correct date and the pivoting cardboard arc demonstrates the sun’s movement. You can even determine the points of sunrise and sunset on the horizon. Different day lengths for summer and winter, polar day and night, equator sun, etc. can be easily demonstrated.
How to do it:
Move the Sun to the desired date date, set the horizon to the correct latitude and rotate the sun arc. This allows you to follow the Sun’s path from east to west, both above and below the horizon. Hold the model so that the horizon remains horizontal at all times.
Ideal for teaching, e.g. astronomy classes.

Things you will need for assembly:
- a firm and flat working surface, useful is a cutting mat
- a sharp craft knife or a scalpel
- a dull knife or a folding tool
- a good universal glue
Adult supervision:
Children under 14 should use the kit under adult supervision to avoid risks arising from improper handling.
